Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of the Journal of Informatics and Computational Applications (JICA)—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. JICA adheres to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and upholds the highest standards of integrity and transparency in publishing.
1. Responsibilities of the Editor
Publication Decisions
The editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. This decision is based on the paper’s importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The editor may consult with other editors or reviewers when making the decision.
Fair Play
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated solely on academic merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political views.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, or the publisher.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information in submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the author’s explicit written consent.
2. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback.
Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to complete the review in a timely manner should notify the editor immediately.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with others unless authorized by the editor.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Reviewers must provide clear, reasoned, and respectful feedback without personal criticism of the authors.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should point out any relevant work that has not been cited. They should also notify the editor of any significant similarity or overlap with other published works.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or institutions involved.
3. Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate and complete accounts of their work, including objective discussion and appropriate references. Data should be represented truthfully.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure their work is original and properly cite or quote the work of others. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Duplicate publication is unethical.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must give proper acknowledgment to others whose work has contributed to their research.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to those who have significantly contributed to the research. All co-authors must approve the final version and agree to its submission.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence their work.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error in their published article, they must inform the editor promptly and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.
