Peer Review Policy

Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Informatics and Computational Applications (JICA) adopts a double-blind peer review process to ensure the integrity, objectivity, and quality of all manuscripts submitted for publication.

1. Review Process

  • Initial Screening
All manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the editorial team to evaluate their suitability for the journal's scope, quality of writing, adherence to submission guidelines, and originality (including plagiarism check). Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected before peer review.

  • Double-Blind Review
Submissions that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. In the double-blind review process:

    • Authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers.

    • Reviewers’ identities are also concealed from authors.

  • Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following:

    • Originality and contribution to the field

    • Scientific soundness and methodology

    • Relevance to the journal’s scope

    • Clarity of presentation and structure

    • Appropriateness of references and ethical compliance

  • Review Outcomes
Each reviewer will recommend one of the following decisions:

    • Accept without revisions

    • Accept with minor revisions

    • Major revisions required (with resubmission)

    • Reject

Final decisions are made by the editor-in-chief based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of the revised manuscript.

2. Reviewer Selection and Confidentiality

  • Reviewers are selected based on academic qualifications, publication history, and subject-matter expertise.

  • All reviews are treated as confidential and must not be shared or discussed with third parties.

3. Duration and Timeliness

  • The editorial team aims to complete the review process within 4–8 weeks of submission.

  • Authors will be informed of delays and are encouraged to contact the editorial office for updates if necessary.

4. Revision and Resubmission

  • If revisions are requested, authors are given a reasonable period to address the reviewers’ comments.

  • A revised manuscript must be accompanied by a detailed response letter outlining the changes made and justifications where needed.

5. Ethical Review Conduct

JICA follows COPE’s Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers. Reviewers must:

  • Maintain confidentiality,

  • Provide objective and constructive feedback,

  • Avoid conflicts of interest,

  • Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage.
